Avantech at the Malta International Airshow 2014
Avantech was an active participant in this year's Malta International Airshow, held on the 27th & 28th of September at Hal-Farrug.
We had an elevated stand situated right alongside the runway, holding a wide variety of Canon professional camera bodies and camera lenses for professional and amateur photographers to try out - and they sure did! :)

This year's event was another great success with over 100 entrants submitting their 'Happiness' photos. The 51 (we had a tie) semi finalists were chosen by the public, which were then narrowed down to 30 finalists by our 4 judges.
The finalists and their guests attended the final event at our premises where we had all top 30 pictures on display. They got to check out their competition, enjoying some drinks and nibbles, whilst our judges got down to business and selected the top 3 winners .... and here they are:

World Photography Day terms & conditions - Please read to enter!
1. The subject for the World Photography Day Competition is ‘Happiness’.
2. The competition is open to an unlimited number of participants.
3. Only one photo allowed per entrant.
4. Photo requirements. The chosen image should:
a) Relate to the competition’s theme
b) Be available in jpeg format in a good quality, high resolution.
c) Be taken with a compact camera or a DSLR of any brand. Mobile phone photography is not allowed. Any photo submitted using a mobile phone can and will be disqualified at any stage of the competition.
a) Be borderless
b) Not have a watermark or caption.
c) Be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrants must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs entered. Furthermore, entrants must not have breached any laws when taking their photographs.
c) not have been offered for sale, been the source of any income or entered into any other competition.
5. To apply, one must:
a) log onto our facebook page (www.facebook.com/canonmalta)
b) click on the ‘World Photography Day’ tab beneath the cover photo
c) Enter details and follow the steps required
6. The entries will be uploaded onto the tab ‘World Photography Day’. They can be viewed by clicking on ‘vote’.
7. The top 50 will be selected automatically by online voting running from Thursday 24th July until Monday 4th August at noon.
8. Our panel of judges will then judge the top 50 semi-finalists, from which the 30 finalists will be chosen.
9. The finalists will be contacted by email on Thursday 7th August. It is the responsibility of the entrants to check their email on this date and proceed with the given instructions.
10. We require the photos to be printed (A3 size) from Photocity, where we have arranged a special price for conformity. The price is 13 Euros for the printing and the mounting. Photocity: 27, South Street, Valletta. 21236723 - http://www.photocitymalta.com/.
11. Photos should be taken on a CD or pendrive in person between Friday 8th and Thursday 14th August. Payment should be settled. The prints will then be picked up by Avantech Ltd.
12. The competition is open to Maltese Islands residents only. Employees of Avantech Ltd., as well as their immediate families are not eligible to enter.
13. The final event will take place on Tuedsay the 19th of August at 7:30pm at the Avantech premises.
14. Photographs will be exhibited and will be judged by a panel of judges. They will consider a range of factors including composition, technical ability, originality, and the commercial appeal of the photographs.
15. The first place receive a prize of 1,000 Euro voucher, the first runner up will receive a 500 Euro voucher, and the second runner up a 250 Euro voucher. All vouchers are redeemable against hardware products from Avantech Ltd.
16. Prizes are as stated and cannot be sold or transferred.
17. The printed finalists photos are property of Avantech Ltd and will be used for decoration and promotion at the Avantech building in San Gwann.
18. Entrants will retain copyright in the photographs that they submit to Avantech Ltd. By entering the competition all entrants grant to Avantech Ltd. the right to publish and exhibit their photographs on Facebook, the Avantech website, CanonMalta.com blog, CanonMalta.com webpage, and any other medium seen fit to promote the competition and event.
19. By entering, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules and Avantech Ltd. reserves the right to exclude any entry from the competition at any time and at its absolute discretion if Avantech has reason to believe that an entrant has breached these rules.
20. Avantech Ltd. reserves the right to cancel this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if the circumstances arise outside of its control.

Katy Perry 'ROAR' competition - Terms & Conditions
ROAR TO MAGIC
Competition runs from 04.04.2014 and is open to Maltese residents only aged 16 or over. Under 18 prize winners must be accompanied by an adult. Exclusions apply. Promoter: Magic Malta 91.7 FM, in partnership with Avantech Limited.
FULL TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. By submitting your entry to this Competition, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
2. Entry instructions form part of these Terms and Conditions. Entries submitted with incomplete information, or found to contain invalid information, shall be deemed invalid entries.
3. Competition open only to Malta residents aged 16 years or over excluding employees and their immediate families of Magic Malta 91.7FM, Avantech Limited and their affiliated companies, agents or anyone professionally connected with the Competition.
4. The Competition runs from 04.04.2014 until a date determined by the Promoter. (“Competition Period”).
5. The Competition shall include one (1) prize draw at the end of the Competition Period.
6. Entrants under the age of 18 years must seek the permission of their parent/guardian before entering this Competition.
7. Age and identity verification will be required at three separate points during the fulfilment process:
a. At the point of accepting their status as prize winner where the winner will be asked to verify their age by providing their DOB to ensure they are over 16.
b. b. At the point of booking flights where valid passport/ identity card data will be required at the point of booking by the fulfilment agency.
c. Entrance to the venue may require proof of age and id to enter. Winner must ensure he/ she in possession of a valid identity document at all times.
8. The date and location of the tickets to be won is pre-determined and dates cannot be changed nor tickets exchanged for any other Katy Perry Tour date.
9. The prize includes two (2) return economy flights to the U.K., including taxes, and accommodation for two (2) persons in a *** hotel in London on Bed and Breakfast basis for two (2) nights and two (2) Katy Perry concert tickets for the 31st of May 2014. Travel insurance, airport transfers and all other expenses are to be borne by the prize winner.
10. The flights are fixed by time and date and cannot be changed. The winner must be able to travel on set dates to claim his/ her prize.
11. The winners must be over the age of 16; those who are under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or an adult duly authorised by their parent or legal guardian.
12. It is the responsibility of the winner and his/ her guest to ensure that they are in possession of a valid passport for the duration of the trip. Magic Malta 91.7FM and Avantech Limited cannot accept liability for participants that cannot travel because of insufficient or incorrect documentation.
13. The winner and his/ her guest are responsible for checking that participating does not compromise or invalidate any existing personal assurance, insurance, life policies or similar policies that any of party travelling may hold.
14. The winner and his/ her guest must ensure they can meet the conditions of travel outlined herein, including;
a. Being available for travel on the stated dates b. Any health related issues declared prior to booking and travel c. Winner and guest must be the owner of a valid passport which is valid for at least six months beyond return date d. The winner and their guest must ensure that travelling does not compromise or invalidate any existing personal assurance, insurance, life policies etc. that any of the travelling party may hold.
GENERAL
15. No warranty or guarantee is given by the Promoter in relation to the prizes or any element thereof.
16. To enter, participants are required to:
a. Like the Magic Malta 91.7’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/magicmalta917);
b. Comment on the ‘Roar to Magic’ competition poster posted on Magic Malta 91.7’s Facebook page.
17. A number of participants will be hand-picked and requested to call in during Magic Malta 91.7’s weekly Breakfast and Drive-Time Show to accede to the Competition’s final stage.
18. Finalists will be informed of the date of the completion final and requested to be on stand-by to call in during Magic Malta 91.7’s weekly Breakfast and Drive-Time Show to accede to the Competition’s final stage.
19. Finalists will be asked to answer a question on air, with the first finalist giving the correct answer being confirmed the winner of the prize.
20. Tickets will be fulfilled once the winner has confirmed acceptance of the prize. The prize will be either handed over in person or sent by registered post to a confirmed postal address within 5 days before the date of the concert.
21. The winner and his/her guest are subject to the policies and terms and conditions associated with third party providers supplying elements of the prizes, including the tickets and venue. Failure to comply with these terms and conditions may result in refused entry, or the ticket holders being required to leave the venue.
22. The Promoter shall not be liable for any costs, liabilities, damages or losses incurred by a prize winner in connection with the prize. For the avoidance of doubt, the prize excludes associated costs, expenses, charges or taxes incurred by a prize winner which are not stated in the existing prize description including but not limited to any travel costs, expenses or charges which may be incurred by a prize winner in connection with the prize.
23. The Promoter shall not be held responsible or held liable in relation to the conduct of the winner or his/her guest, nor in connection with any circumstances outside its control with respect to the prize once claimed by the winner.
24. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify incomplete, altered or illegible entries. No responsibility will be accepted for any entries that are lost, delayed, damaged, corrupted or mis-sent for any reason whatsoever.
25. No alternative prizes are available, except that in the event of circumstances outside of its control the Promoter reserves the right to substitute similar prizes of equal or greater value.
26. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, amend, terminate or temporarily suspend this Competition at any time without liability.
27. The Promoter and it associated companies accept no liability for any loss, expense or damage which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person's negligence) in connection with the Competition and/or prizes, other than such liability that cannot be excluded by law including death or personal injury through negligence, where liability shall be limited to the minimum permissible by law.
28. If for any reason any aspect of the Competition does not function correctly, whether by means of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any cause beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affects the administration, integrity or fairness of the Competition, then the Promoter may at its sole discretion cancel, modify or suspend the Competition and/or invalidate affected entries. No responsibility will be accepted for website, telecommunication or technical fault.
29. The prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for any cash alternatives in whole or in part. The Promoter’s decision in all matters relating to the Competition is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
30. The winners and his/ her guest may be required to participate in related publicity including their names and photographs being used for promotional purposes and/or reasonable requests to take part in the Promoter’s publicity.
31. This Competition is subject to the laws of Malta and the exclusive jurisdiction of the Maltese courts.

b. Comment on the ‘Roar to Magic’ competition poster posted on Magic Malta 91.7’s Facebook page.
17. A number of participants will be hand-picked and requested to call in during Magic Malta 91.7’s weekly Breakfast and Drive-Time Show to accede to the Competition’s final stage.
18. Finalists will be informed of the date of the completion final and requested to be on stand-by to call in during Magic Malta 91.7’s weekly Breakfast and Drive-Time Show to accede to the Competition’s final stage.
19. Finalists will be asked to answer a question on air, with the first finalist giving the correct answer being confirmed the winner of the prize.
20. Tickets will be fulfilled once the winner has confirmed acceptance of the prize. The prize will be either handed over in person or sent by registered post to a confirmed postal address within 5 days before the date of the concert.
21. The winner and his/her guest are subject to the policies and terms and conditions associated with third party providers supplying elements of the prizes, including the tickets and venue. Failure to comply with these terms and conditions may result in refused entry, or the ticket holders being required to leave the venue.
22. The Promoter shall not be liable for any costs, liabilities, damages or losses incurred by a prize winner in connection with the prize. For the avoidance of doubt, the prize excludes associated costs, expenses, charges or taxes incurred by a prize winner which are not stated in the existing prize description including but not limited to any travel costs, expenses or charges which may be incurred by a prize winner in connection with the prize.
23. The Promoter shall not be held responsible or held liable in relation to the conduct of the winner or his/her guest, nor in connection with any circumstances outside its control with respect to the prize once claimed by the winner.
24. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify incomplete, altered or illegible entries. No responsibility will be accepted for any entries that are lost, delayed, damaged, corrupted or mis-sent for any reason whatsoever.
25. No alternative prizes are available, except that in the event of circumstances outside of its control the Promoter reserves the right to substitute similar prizes of equal or greater value.
26. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, amend, terminate or temporarily suspend this Competition at any time without liability.
27. The Promoter and it associated companies accept no liability for any loss, expense or damage which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person's negligence) in connection with the Competition and/or prizes, other than such liability that cannot be excluded by law including death or personal injury through negligence, where liability shall be limited to the minimum permissible by law.
28. If for any reason any aspect of the Competition does not function correctly, whether by means of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any cause beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affects the administration, integrity or fairness of the Competition, then the Promoter may at its sole discretion cancel, modify or suspend the Competition and/or invalidate affected entries. No responsibility will be accepted for website, telecommunication or technical fault.
29. The prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for any cash alternatives in whole or in part. The Promoter’s decision in all matters relating to the Competition is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
30. The winners and his/ her guest may be required to participate in related publicity including their names and photographs being used for promotional purposes and/or reasonable requests to take part in the Promoter’s publicity.
31. This Competition is subject to the laws of Malta and the exclusive jurisdiction of the Maltese courts.
32. The Promoter will collect personal information for the purpose of administering this Competition and future Magic Malta 91.7 promotional activity. This may include contacting the winner via text messages or calls regarding this Competition. In administering this Competition any personal data relating to participants will be used solely in accordance with current Maltese data protection legislation and, other than in connection with the running of this Competition and performance of the prize, will not be disclosed to a third party without the individual’s prior consent.
33. The Promoter retains the right to amend the terms and conditions at any point.
